When does Gateway Commons open?
The building is under construction. Leasing opens before completion, and we will post the move-in month here and call the waitlist as soon as we have a firm date.
Do I need a voucher to apply?
No. Most homes will go to voucher holders, but anyone who qualifies can apply. We welcome all lawful sources of income.
Which housing authorities do you work with?
HACLA (City of Los Angeles), LACDA (County) and any other housing authority whose voucher can be used at this address. The home is in the City of Los Angeles.
What will I pay?
If you have a voucher, your share is set by your housing authority, usually about 30 percent of your household income. Rent is set at the payment standard for your bedroom size.
How much is the deposit?
One month's rent. Some housing authorities and nonprofits help with deposits; ask us when we call.
Is there parking?
Fourteen on-site spaces with EV charging. Spaces are assigned when you move in; there is also street parking.
Are pets allowed?
Service and assistance animals are always welcome. We will publish the pet policy for other animals when leasing opens.
Are utilities included?
Residents pay electricity and gas for their own home. Water, sewer and trash are billed back to each home by its share of the building's bill. Rooftop solar keeps the building's electric bills low. Your housing authority includes a utility allowance in its calculation.
Is the building accessible?
The ground-floor one-bedrooms have step-free entry from the drive. Tell us about any accommodation you need and we will work with you.
Who owns and manages the building?
IHS 228, LLC owns Gateway Commons. Ironwood Housing Solutions, the developer, manages it directly; its principals have built and managed apartments in the South Bay for years.
